This amaretto cobbler cocktail is like a combination of 2 of very delicious drinks- an amaretto sour and amaretto with fresh squeezed orange juice. Plus a little herby, spicy flavor from the gin that compliments it well.
I found this recipe in The Playboy Bartender’s Guide by Thomas Mario. It’s a drink that’s grouped together with other cocktails that belong in their own category, or rather, defy easy categorization. I’ve been trying to experiment with gin lately because it’s just not a spirit that I ever really liked but I’ve only ever really tried it with tonic water and I’m just not a fan of a classic G&T. So, I first tried it in this gin Alexander with coffee and it was delicious. I saw this recipe and I really love amaretto so I thought I’d give it a try. And it’s delicious as well.
Ingredients for an amaretto cobbler
Gin
Amaretto
Lemon juice- I like to use fresh squeezed
Orange juice- I like fresh squeezed as well, especially for the orange juice
Orange slice- for garnish, optional (mine is actually a dehydrated orange wheel)
Recipe
The original recipe calls for you to add the ingredients to a glass filled with ice and stir. I used a cocktail shaker for this to really make sure the juices and liquors mixed well. Either one will work. Garnish with an orange slice optional.
