As the days grow warmer, nothing beats a refreshing cocktail that perfectly balances sweet, tart, and bold flavors. Enter the blackberry bourbon lemonade- a refreshing twist on a southern classic. It’s vibrant, herbaceous sipper that’s as pretty as it is delicious. Whether you’re hosting a backyard BBQ or simply relaxing on the porch, this drink is sure to impress.

Why it works
The rich warmth of bourbon pairs beautifully with the tart burst of blackberries, while the lemonade keeps the drink light and citrusy. The sage? It’s the secret weapon- adding a subtle herbal note that makes this drink memorable.
Tips and variations:
- Try it with smoked bourbon for added depth
- Swap lemonade for sparkling lemon water if you want a lighter fizz
- Want it sweeter? Add a touch of honey or simple syrup to taste

Recipe for Blackberry bourbon lemonade
Blackberry bourbon lemonade
(serves 1)
2 ounces bourbon
5 fresh blackberries (plus 3 for garnish)
Lemonade (store-bought or homemade)
Fresh sage leaves for garnish
Ice
- Muddle the berries: In a shaker or sturdy glass, muddle 5 fresh blackberries until they’re well crushed and juicy.
- Add the bourbon: Pour in 2 ounces of your favorite bourbon. Give it a gentle stir to blend with the blackberry juice. (At this point I strain some of the blackberries out, leaving about half)
- Shake or stir: If you’re using a shaker, add ice and shake well. If mixing directly in the glass, stir until chilled.
- Top with lemonade: Fill the glass with ice and top with lemonade. Stir to combine.
- Garnish: Add 3 fresh blackberries and a fresh sage leaf (or leaves) either by threading them onto a cocktail pick, or dropping them directly on the top. The earthy aroma of sage adds an unexpected layer of sophistication.

Raise your glass to long days, golden hours, and good company. To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
