Cinco de Mayo is in 2 days….Do you have your margarita game plan ready???
Flash back about 10 years ago when me and my bestest friend were going to Cancun, Mexico for a vacation. We were so excited because we were going to be in Mexico for Cinco de Mayo. Little did we know, they don’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Mexico. Except for the town of Puebla which was part of the revolution on May 5th 1862. We were slightly disappointed that there wasn’t going to be some big party and celebration but then we realized we were in Mexico for a whole week partying and celebrating Mexico every single day!
So let’s talk about these margarita’s….I wanted a “fresh” margarita without any mixers or simple syrups or sweeteners added. I just used fresh blackberries and lime juice plus tequila and grand marnier. Unfortunately, my blackberries were a little on the sour, tart side so I did add some club soda to neutralize the margarita and it worked out oh so deliciously.
One other thing I didn’t do which some people may not like, is that I didn’t strain the berries out of the shaker. I wanted all of the broken down berries to be in the margarita. I know it seems weird to have to “chew” your drink but that’s what makes it “fresh” too.
Blackberry Margarita
10 blackberries
2oz tequila
1 1/2oz grand marnier
1/2 oz lime juice
club soda
Slightly muddle blackberries in a shaker. Add tequila, grand marnier, and lime juice. Shake well. Pour into a salt rimmed glass and top off with club soda.
good drinks, good food, and good times with family and friends
