This delicious blue margarita combines blue curacao and triple sec for an extra orange citrus flavor along with tequila and lime juice. It’s almost too pretty to drink.

The inspiration for this drink was actually the color. Sometimes blue curacao tends to give a drink a neon color but this combination gave it a pretty light blue color. I immediately wanted to photograph it with daisy’s and to garnish it with dehydrated orange slices.

A traditional margarita is tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. The triple sec has an orange flavor. You can also use a more expensive orange liqueur like Cointreau or Grand Marnier. Sometimes for the blue margarita people sub the blue curacao for the triple sec but for my recipe I used both.

Blue margarita
(serves 1)
2 oz tequila
1 oz triple sec (or Cointreau or Grand Marnier)
1 oz blue curacao (I used blue maui schnapps)
1 oz lime juice
1 oz agave
Place all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well. Pour into a salt rimmed glass.

Enjoy!
