According to Wikipedia, the symbol of a bluebird as a harbinger of happiness dates back thousands of years and in many cultures. Generally, “bluebirds of happiness” are associated with joy, love, happiness, positivity, and harmony. When I think of seeing a bluebird, it makes me happy because 1- they’re so pretty and 2- it must be springtime! So I can see why they are the bluebirds of happiness.

Now funny story- This recipe uses blue curacao. I have used blue curacao in many drinks before. But I used Blue Maui which is like a schnapps and basically the cheap version of a blue curacao. I don’t know how old my bottle of Blue Maui was but I ran out. So when I went to the store the clerk all but laughed at me and told me they don’t make that anymore and haven’t for a while. She didn’t even know what it tasted like. I told her it tasted like oranges and was blue. So she found an actual bottle of blue curacao and it was fairly cheap so I was happy. Now, the only thing is that when I search the internet, Blue Maui still comes up. So were they misinformed? Or is it because I live in a state with a government run liquor store and they simply don’t stock Blue Maui anymore and they do whatever they want and you can only buy your liquor at their stores? Now my story isn’t even funny and I just went on a little rant.

Both blue curacao and cointreau or triple sec are all orange flavored liqueurs. However they do have different tastes. The cointreau and triple sec are definitely more orange flavored while the blue curacao is a little bit sweeter with a little more citrusy notes.
