The bourbon peach smash is the perfect drink for those late summer days when peaches are at their peak, bursting with juicy sweetness. This cocktail combines the warmth of bourbon with the bright, tart notes of lemon, the sweetness of peaches, and the refreshing touch of mint, all balanced with a hint of maple syrup.
I have been obsessed with peaches for the past month. I get a CSA bag/box from a local organic farm every week and for the past month or so they give us a small bag of peaches. They are the best peaches I have had in years! They have an “extras” table so I pick up a few more peaches and then I also stop by their farm stand and buy even more. I eat at least 1 every day and Mikey does too. He even said he can’t believe how good they are and he doesn’t ever remember eating a peach that tasted so delicious.
So of course I had to make a cocktail out of a peach.
I may experiment with a gluten free peach pie next because peach pie is my absolute favorite kind of pie. My peach pie was also a blue ribbon winner at the local county fair years ago. However, I never made a gluten free kind or a crust with butter instead of crisco so I’m kind anxious to see how it turns out.
Ingredients for bourbon peach smash
Bourbon- adds warmth and the caramel-like notes complement the sweetness of the peaches
Peach- I use a fresh peach. You could use frozen peach slices, thawed
Maple syrup- adds a sweetness and depth of flavor
Lemon juice- brings a tart, citrusy balance
Mint- this is what makes the drink a “smash”
Club soda- lightens up the whole cocktail making it perfect for warm weather
Recipe
