I took a favorite fall treat and made it into a protein shake!

My diet did a nose dive over the weekend even though I did get in some good workouts. So what better way to start off the week then to ease my way back into my diet with this caramel apple protein shake.

Now, the best thing about this protein shake is that I didn’t use regular caramel. I only used it for the pictures. A “wow” effect, if you will. The caramel in the actual protein shake is sugar free caramel coffee syrup.

I also used an unflavored protein powder. I tried it with vanilla protein powder and it was just wrong. I couldn’t get it to taste like a caramel apple. The vanilla was too overpowering. And if you don’t like protein powder, an unflavored greek yogurt works just as well.

You could also definitely add some nuts or even granola and nuts to your protein shake. I know some people like a caramel apple rolled in nuts. I on the other hand, just like a plain caramel apple so that’s why I just kept my shake simple.

Caramel apple protein shake
3 TBL unsweetened apple juice
1 small apple- peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
1/2 frozen banana
2 TBL sugar free caramel syrup (I used a coffee syrup)
2 TBL almond milk (I used original flavor)
1 scoop of unflavored protein powder
Combine all ingredients in a blender with 1 cup of ice. Blend until smooth.
