Think of a bourbon sour meets amaretto sour and throw in some cherry juice and you have this delicious cherry bourbon sour that you’re going to want to make again and again.
I’m having a moment with tart cherry juice. Dr. D’s probiotic tart cherry juice to be exact. I used it in this cherry lime margarita and then again here in this cherry bourbon sour. You can use regular cherry juice instead of course. I drink probiotic drinks almost every day so I figured why not add it to my cocktail?
So a sour is a traditional mixed drink that combines a liquor, lemon or lime juice, and a sweetener like simple syrup. Sometimes egg whites are included. Sours date back to the 1860’s and can be made with a variety of liquors. There’s a whiskey/bourbon sour, amaretto sour, Midori sour, Gin sour, Pisco sour, and tequila sour just to name a few. I’m a whiskey sour girl (along with my bestest friend Trixie). You can check out 2 different variations like this cranberry whiskey sour or a New York sour– which is a whiskey sour with a floater of red wine on top. There’s also this pear amaretto sour which is really tasty. When I was a bartender, there was this one girl that always ordered an amaretto sour. I also remember making Midori sours too.
