Combining tart cherry juice and grenadine with the delicious ingredients of a traditional lime margarita and you have a tasty, flavorful drink that’s going to be hard to put down.
Years ago, I made a frozen cherry margarita which is still one of my favorite margaritas I’ve ever made before. And I like my margaritas over ice not frozen but my frozen cherry margarita is just so good. Well now I have another new favorite and it’s a cherry one again. On the rocks instead of frozen.
This cherry lime margarita uses tart cherry juice instead of cherries. I used Doctor D’s sparkling probiotic drink tart cherry flavor. I found it at my local grocery store. It’s an organic probiotic refresher. I’ve seen drinks made with Kombucha before, so I figured why not try a probiotic drink. It’s a healthy margarita! Right?
I also used grenadine in the cherry lime margarita. I feel like it helps give the drink a fruity, tart, and slightly sweeter taste.
In case you didn’t know, tequila is my all time favorite. And making margaritas is my 2nd all time favorite. I have about 21 margarita recipes. They have their own section under the menu setting here on the blog.
Cherry lime margarita
(serves 1)
2 ounces tequila
1 ounce triple sec
2 ounces tart cherry juice (I used Doctor D’s sparkling probiotic drink-tart cherry flavor)
1/2 ounce lime juice(about half a lime, depending on the size)
1/2 ounce grenadine
Lime slice and maraschino cherry, optional
Coarse or margarita salt to rim the glass
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine tequila, triple sec, lime juice, cherry juice, and grenadine. Shake well. Strain into a salt rimmed margarita glass-or any glass. Garnish with a lime slice and maraschino cherry, optional.
To rim the glass with salt- take a lime and rub it around the outside of the glass. Place salt on a plate and dip the glass in the salt.
Enjoy!
