These chicken and waffle bites are insanely easy and really tasty. They’re great for a quick appetizer if you’re in a hurry and they’re only 3 ingredients, 2 of which are from the freezer.
I saw chicken and waffle bites on Pinterest and just thought they were the cutest little things. Now being from southwestern PA, I never heard of chicken and waffles until just a few years ago. It was never a thing around here until recently. My first experience with them was from KFC. And they were delicious. Yes fast food chicken and waffles. So when I saw these little chicken and waffle bites I just had to make them.
With the holidays and parties and entertaining coming up, these chicken and waffle appetizers are really great. I had the ingredients in my freezer already. My son used to eat mini waffles ALL. THE. TIME. but only 1 certain kind that they stopped making. I kept the box and tried to trick him by putting a different brand in the box but he couldn’t be fooled. So I had a whole bunch of mini waffles in my freezer just waiting to be used or thrown away.
The chicken is breaded fully cooked frozen chicken breasts. I used Aldi’s Kirkland brand. It’s sometimes referred to as Aldi red bag chicken and some people say it tastes like chic-fil-a. I also like to use pure maple syrup but you could sub the pancake topping or whatever they call the stuff that’s not actually real maple syrup.
Chicken and waffle appetizers
16 frozen mini waffles
2 fully cooked breaded frozen chicken breasts
3-4 Tablespoons maple syrup (or more for your taste)
I heated my chicken in an Air fryer according to my air fryer directions which was 360 degrees for 20 minutes. You can also follow the directions on the package directions of the frozen chicken that you use.
While chicken is baking, toast your waffles according to package directions.
When chicken is done, cut into bite sized pieces and place on top of mini waffles and drizzle with maple syrup.
Aren’t they just the cutest lil things?!
