This chocolate bourbon stout is an indulgent drink combining the rich flavors of chocolate, the boldness of stout, and the warmth of bourbon with a creaminess from half and half. It is such a delightful and decadent treat.
Several years ago, I saw this drink on Pinterest. It’s called bourbon stout cocktail and it’s from Better Homes and Gardens or as they now go by BHG. When I tried to link to their article with this drink, something different came up. When I searched their website, it still didn’t come up. Subsequently, I varied the ingredients slightly anyway but it is adapted from their recipe.
And let me just tell you, it is heavenly! It has such a decadent, complex flavor with a creamy texture. This one you’re going to want to sip and savor.
Ingredients for chocolate bourbon stout
Bourbon
Chocolate stout- I used one from Penn Brewery, which is local to me
Vanilla vodka – the BHG recipe uses vanilla extract. I like the extra oomph that the vanilla vodka gives
Half and half- you can use any kind of milk
Chocolate syrup- to drizzle around inside of glass
Recipe
Chocolate bourbon stout
(serves 1)
1 1/2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce vanilla vodka
3-4 ounces chocolate stout
1 1/2 ounces half and half
Approximately 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup
Drizzle chocolate syrup around the inside of a rocks glass. Fill glass with ice. Pour in bourbon and vanilla. Stir gently. Top with chocolate stout. Slowly pour in half and half. Stir gently-this part is not included in the picture of this drink. I recommend stirring the drink so all of the flavors meld together including the chocolate syrup. The drink will then look more like chocolate milk. The layering of the drink helps give it such complexity and makes it look really cool too!
To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
