City girl

It was a gorgeous exceptionally warm fall evening in November.  We walked hand in hand strolling down the sidewalk silently, just enjoying each others company.  It was only a few blocks to the little Italian restaurant on the corner where we dined in the solarium under the twinkling lights of the chandeliers.  We each had a glass of wine and ordered the parmesan special.  Chicken for myself and he ordered the veal.  It was delicious.  After our meal we sat holding hands on the table caressing each others fingers making small talk and feeling satiated if not totally full.  We walked the short distance home and felt like we were characters in a movie or a good book.  Actually we felt like we lived in New York City and it was just another night walking to a really good local restaurant.

So if you can’t tell from this post or don’t know me personally, we are like country bumpkins.  I come from a small little shit town that occasionally had a lil mom and pop market that sold the basics and the grocery store was a good 15-20 minute drive.  Where I come from and even where I live now with my boyfriend, people don’t walk to the store or to restaurants.  Hell, most people don’t even walk for exercise anymore.  We had a really pleasant evening walking to a local eatery and next stop might be the bakery down the street some morning.  I like feeling like I live in the city.  It’s very European also.  Did I ever mention I am totally addicted to house hunters international on HGTV?  I actually do live in a city now.  It’s an economically depressed city in the middle of nowhere though.  But I’m trying to make the best of it and I just wanted to share my little “city girl” experience with you because it was so completely enjoyable.  It was like a very unexpected “happy hour.”
