If your looking for a cocktail that’s just as cool as it is devilishly delicious, look no further than the Devil’s tail. This frozen concoction is the perfect drink for parties, warm evenings, or just when your craving something that feels a little indulgent and a lot of fun.
I bought this cool glass at the Dollar Tree. So when I saw the recipe for a Devil’s tail in The Everything Bartender’s Book by Jane Parker Resnick, it said to serve it in a champagne flute (even though there’s no champagne in it) and I just knew this was the perfect recipe for my perfectly cool Halloween glass.
Next time you’re looking to shake up your cocktail routine, channel your inner mischief-maker and whip up a Devil’s tail. It’s vibrant red hue makes it a show stopper in a glass, while the tropical flavors transport you to the beach- even if you’re just on your patio. It’s the kind of drink that feels a little bit wicked but always goes down smoothly.
Ingredients for Devil’s tail
Light rum- gives the drink a tropical twist
Vodka- adds a strong base
Apricot brandy- adds a subtle sweetness
Grenadine- gives it a pop of color and adds a fruity twist
Lime juice- ties it all together with a tangy bite that cuts through the sweetness
Ice- the icy consistency keeps it refreshing and drinkable
Recipe
Devil’s tail
(serves 2)
1 1/2 ounce light rum
1 ounce vodka
1/2 ounce apricot brandy
1/2 ounce grenadine
Juice of half a lime
1 cup ice
Add all the ingredients to a blender. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and icy. Pour into a chilled champagne glass. Garnish with a lime wedge or cherry if you’re feeling fancy or if you don’t have a cool scary glass like mine.
To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
