This espresso martini combines vodka, coffee liqueur, and espresso for a delicious and indulgent cocktail that will definitely give you a boost of energy. And it looks so pretty and fancy with a foamy layer on top garnished with espresso beans.
An espresso martini is making a comeback recently. Every time I turn on a TV show, someone is drinking an espresso martini. And then my sister-in-law was talking about how much she loves to order espresso martini’s when she goes out. So I couldn’t wait for her to try one of my espresso martinis, but it turns out she’s pregnant (YAY!) and now she has to wait a few more months to try it. Interestingly enough, my sister-in-law bought me these martini glasses for my birthday and they make the perfect espresso martini glasses.
I actually made two kinds of espresso martini. One with creme de cacao and one without. The one with creme de cacao definitely has a slight chocolatey taste. The one without creme de cacao was stronger because it has 2 shots of espresso in it. I actually preferred the one without the creme de cacao because it tasted more of espresso (I know that’s kind of obvious).
I’m including the recipe for both kinds of martini.
So the key to get the foamy layer on top of the martini is to vigorously shake the cocktail shaker. And don’t forget to garnish your martini with 3 coffee beans floating on top which stand for health, wealth and happiness!
Recipe
Espresso martini
(serves 1)
2 ounces vodka
2 ounces coffee liqueur
2 ounces espresso brewed and cooled. (I used Delallo instant espresso powder)
3 espresso/coffee beans for garnish
Place vodka, coffee liqueur, and (chilled) espresso in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a martini glass. Top with 3 coffee beans.
Espresso martini #2
(serves 1)
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce coffee liqueur
1/2 ounce creme de cacao
1 ounce chilled espresso
Place vodka, coffee liqueur, creme de cacao, and chilled espresso in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a martini glass. Top with 3 coffee beans.
Enjoy!
