This golden ticket cocktail is a delicious combination of rum, pineapple juice, orange juice and coconut milk that is flavorful, fruity, but not too sweet.
I made this cocktail because my son is obsessed with tickets. All kinds of tickets. He has been for years. And he’s only 6. Undoubtedley, he was totally devastated when Chuck E. Cheese went all electronic and now they only have e tickets. Thankfully there are still 2 smaller arcades at some fun centers near us that still have tickets that come out of the machines. He collects all kinds of tickets. Sometimes he doesn’t even turn the tickets in at the fun centers for a prize. He takes them home and adds them to his collection.
BTW, my son is a hoarder. There was a period a few years ago like age 2 or 3 that we had to make tickets. Just cut out squares and write ticket on them. And then he would make us count all of his tickets. Like well over 300 of these pieces of paper. Maybe that’s why he knows how to count really well. We also print tickets. For example ABC mouse gives you “tickets.” So we had to image search them online and copy, paste, and print them out.
Which now leads me to the Golden Ticket. We were trying to bribe him to do something and his cousin thought that a Kinder Joy egg would be the “golden ticket” to get him to do it. It was then that he informed us that he wanted an actual golden ticket. Basically, his cousin found it, printed it and cut it out and now I’m using it for a prop in my cocktail pic.
Coincidentally, the tickets are from Willy Wonka and the movie “Wonka” is in theaters right now.
Ohhh and another ramble about tickets. I use a ticket system as part of a discipline chart and let me tell you, he is a different child since I started using this system when he was 5. It’s from the book The Well Behaved Child by John Rosemond. Life changing.
Sorry for getting off track. Now let’s talk about this cocktail.
Ingredients for golden ticket
Rum
Pineapple juice
Coconut milk
Orange juice- I used fresh squeezed
Recipe
Whereas there are many different variations of this cocktail, I adapted mine form Martha Stewart. Subsequently her recipe is a mocktail. Also, she adds seltzer to the drink which I left out.
The instructions are super simple. Firstly, add everything to a shaker with ice. Secondly, shake well. Thirdly, pour into a rocks glass. Pineapple frond for garnish optional.
To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
