This very tasty and refreshing grape crush is a mocktail but let me tell you, it tastes like a cocktail. It also can easily be made into a delicious cocktail by adding some vodka. This is perfect for a party or gathering where there is a mix of people who drink and those that don’t.
This grape crush is also such a pretty cocktail. It’s like a reverse violet ombre color.
When I say that it tastes like a cocktail (I mean- that’s what a mocktail is after all) I think it’s because there is sour mix in the drink which really reminds me of drinking a cocktail. I mean I can’t really think of drink that contains sour mix other than an alcoholic drink. Plus the sour mix helps cut back the sweetness of the grape juice. The cranberry juice is tart so you get a combined sweet, sour, and tart taste. Trust me when I say this drink is just so good and refreshing.
I highly recommend making your own sour mix. It’s just so easy and keeps well in the fridge and doesn’t have any added ingredients like food coloring or things you’re not sure are natural. It’s only four ingredients and takes a few minutes.
Grape crush mocktail
(serves 1)
3 oz grape juice
1 oz cranberry juice
1 oz sour mix (you can buy sour mix or make your own)*
top with 7-up
In a tall glass filled with ice, combine first 3 ingredients and stir. Top with 7-up.
*Homemade sour mix- in a small saucepan over medium low heat combine 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar. Bring to a simmer and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup lime juice. Stir and let cool. Keep refrigerated.
