Ingredients for hibiscus mixed berry collagen smoothie
Hibiscus tea-has a slightly tart flavor and is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Plus it’s caffeine free, so you can enjoy it anytime of day or night.
Frozen mixed berries- I used a combination of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and red raspberries.
Honey- adds just the right amount of sweetness while also providing natural antibacterial and healing properties.
Milk- any milk of your choice will work. It adds a creaminess and silky smooth texture.
Collagen- supports healthy skin, hair, and nails while also promoting joint health. Plus it gives this shake a protein boost.
Optional add-ins
1/2 of a frozen banana- it helps make the shake thicker and creamier
Flax seeds or chia seeds-for an extra source of fiber and a little more protein
Spinach- for a green boost without altering the taste
Hibiscus mixed berry collagen smoothie
(serves 1)
1 cup hibiscus tea, brewed and chilled
1 cup frozen mixed berries
1/2 Tablespoon of honey
1/2 cup milk of your choice
1 scoop collagen powder
1/2 frozen banana (this is an optional add in but I did use it in mine because I wanted a thicker smoothie)
First, add all ingredients to a blender. Second, blend until smooth. If your smoothie is too thick, add more milk. Alternately, adjust the sweetness by adding more honey. Pour your smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately. Garnish with a mint sprig, optional.
Enjoy!
