With the bold flavor of dark rum and the rich flavor of bourbon, this Jamaican milkshake is the perfect treat for a hot summer day.
So this Jamaican milkshake is more of a frozen drink but can easily be made into a “milkshake” by adding vanilla ice cream. I opted for a simpler route (because I didn’t have any ice cream on hand) and used milk and ice instead. Plus let’s be honest here, I’m saving some calories too! I mean it is still summer around here. The result is a tropical indulgence with depth and complexity but only 4 simple ingredients.
Ingredients for Jamaican milkshake
Dark rum- a Jamaican dark rum is perfect for this obviously
Bourbon
Milk or cream- any variety will work. I used an original almond milk.
Ice
Recipe
Jamaican milkshake
(serves 1)
1 1/2 ounces dark rum
1 1/2 ounces bourbon
2 ounces milk
1 cup ice
Place the dark rum, bourbon, milk, and ice in a blender. Blend well. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
Optional variations-
Add vanilla ice cream or try different flavors of ice cream.
Use coconut milk or just add a splash for a tropical variation.
Garnish with whipped cream for an extra treat.
If you like bourbon and ice cream together or just want to try a delicious boozy treat, then check out these bourbon butterscotch floats made with pecan ice cream that I made several years ago. They are divine!
To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
