Killer Kool-Aid

This vibrant, fruity killer Kool-Aid brings back childhood memories. It’s a perfectly balanced sweet and tangy beverage that’s great for summertime.

The Killer Kool-Aid is the ultimate summer cocktail combining simplicity with fantastic flavor. It’s reminiscent of cherry Kool-Aid which was my second favorite flavor of Kool-Aid when I was growing up. Grape was my favorite. Orange was third and we actually didn’t drink any other flavors except those three. We actually didn’t drink that much Kool-Aid either. It was either water or milk. And nowhere near the amount of water that people drink today. And we almost never drank soda. But in the summertime I definitely remember drinking Kool-Aid and it was always made in my Mom’s tan colored Tupperware pitcher with some kind of pop top lid that you had to push the button on top.

Ingredients for killer Kool-Aid

Vodka

Peach schnapps

Amaretto

Cranberry juice

The directions for the drink are to layer the ingredients. I I clearly need to work on my drink layering skills. Although I did a fantastic job on this Captain America shot. But in my defense, the drink starts with vodka and then peach schnapps which are both clear liquids. And to try and layer 3 ounces of cranberry juice on to the top is not very easy. Plus you want to give the drink a little stir before drinking so I’m not sure what the purpose of layering is. Other than making it more simple because you don’t have to put it in a cocktail shaker and shake and strain.

Garnishes- You can garnish this drink with a lime, a cherry, a mint sprig, nothing, or crazy straws like I did because it reminds me of childhood just like the drink.

Recipe

Killer Kool-Aid

(serves 1)

1 1/2 ounces vodka

1/2 ounce peach schnapps

1/2 ounce amaretto

3 ounces cranberry juice

In a tall glass with ice, layer vodka, peach schnapps, amaretto, and cranberry juice. Stir gently before taking a sip.
