Recipe
King cake old fashioned
(serves 1)
2 ounces bourbon
1/4-1/2 ounce cinnamon simple syrup
5-6 dashes toasted almond bitters
Orange peel, for garnish
For the cinnamon syrup-
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
6 (3 inch) cinnamon sticks
In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, then remove from heat. Strain out the cinnamon sticks and allow the syrup to cool before using. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
Fill a mixing glass with ice and add the bourbon, cinnamon syrup, and toasted almond bitters. Stir gently. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Express the orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it in as a garnish.

To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
