Sweet, spicy, and sticky, these Korean bbq wings are delicious hot off the grill or even cold from the fridge late at night when you need a snack.
Welcome back to sunday suppers! I originally started sunday suppers back in November of 2015. You can read about it here. A lot has changed since then- ummmm, practically everything! But I wanted to start sharing what I made for dinner again because sometimes when I talk to my friends or family, we all agree that sometimes cooking dinner can get quite repetitive and boring and we’ll ask each other what we’re making lately. Or if we have something really good that we want to share and are like “OMG this was so good, you should try it!” Like these Korean bbq wings!
First you make the Korean bbq marinade. I use this marinade on the wings but I also use it for steaks. It is so bomb as a steak marinade. That’s actually how I found the recipe. My local grocery store had a recipe for Korean barbecued t-bone steak that I thought I’d give a try. So glad I did. But of course I also love it on chicken wings.
The marinade uses gochujang, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice wine vinegar. It also calls for toasted sesame seeds but I leave that out. Once you make the marinade, I usually let it sit in the fridge overnight.
Then I throw them on a hot grill until they are done.
Korean BBQ chicken wings
2-4lbs chicken wing pieces
1/4 cup gochujang(Korean red chili paste)
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
1 Tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 cup seasoned rice wine vinegar
in a small bowl combine gochujang, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice wine vinegar. Mix well. In a glass dish or zip lock bag add the chicken wings and the marinade. Place in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours or overnight. Turn the wings over every few hours or flip the bag over every few hours to evenly coat the wings with the marinade.
Grill the wings- making sure to discard the marinade- until cooked through to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
I served the wings with some air fryer sweet potato fries.
