Limoncello Moscow Mule

A ridiculously tasty drink that will make you forget that your having a cocktail until you finish it and try to stand up.  Just kidding! Maybe.

Two years ago my sister made homemade Limoncello to give away as Christmas gifts.  She gave me a jar of it and told me to put it in the refrigerator and that I might want to wait a few weeks because she just made it and it needed to sit for a little bit longer.  Fast forward a few weeks and I found out that I was pregnant.  So no tasting or drinking of the limoncello.  I finally was able to taste it last Christmas and it was very good and very strong.  Not something I was able to just sip on after dinner.  I definitely needed to mix it with something.  So I made it into this Moscow mule.

I made this mule last year and was kind of excited to try it again.  Let me just tell you, it is sooo good and sooo strong.  It tastes just like you’re drinking a Sprite mixed with gingerale and then oh hello, I’m drunk.  Now this could also be because I use the homemade Limoncello so it might be a little stronger than what you buy in the store.

Limoncello Moscow Mule (serves 1)

1oz limoncello

1oz vodka

1/2oz lime juice

1 slice of lime

6oz light ginger beer

In a copper mug (or a regular glass) add ice.  Add limoncello, vodka, and lime juice and stir.  Top with ginger beer and give it a little stir to mix it together.  Top with slice of lime.

A very refreshing different take on the Moscow mule.  You really should give this a try!
