This tasty sparkling drink is super easy to make with only 3 simple ingredients.

I was at a picnic a few months ago where they had a cute little mimosa bar set up. The choices were prosecco, orange juice, cranberry juice, and grapefruit juice. I added oj and cranberry to my prosecco and it was delicious. So when I went to create the drink I wanted to give it a name besides a cranberry mimosa. I was trying to think of names of cocktails that use those ingredients but couldn’t think of the right ones. At first I kept thinking of a seabreeze (vodka, cranberry, grapefruit) or a baybreeze (vodka, cranberry, pineapple) but it was neither. So I searched it and up came the madras cocktail- vodka, cranberry, orange juice. I’ve never heard of a madras cocktail even after bartending for 10 years but it seems so basic that I’m sure I probably made 1 or 2 before and just never called it by it’s proper name. So I decided to call this drink a madras mimosa. Now, what does madras mean and why is the cocktail called that? I have no idea and the internet doesn’t tell me why either. I think it’s funny sometimes how they come up with names of drinks. Some of them don’t ever really make any sense.
