Mandarin Orange Margarita

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!

Ok, so not really.  It’s still winter and I have cabin fever but…. it’s national margarita day!! In case we haven’t met before, Hi my name is Lisa and I LOVE tequila.  And margaritas.  Two years ago on #nationalmargaritaday, I posted my very last cocktail recipe before falling off the face of the internet for almost 2 years because I was pregnant and didn’t want to post mocktails and also because I’m a lazy procrastinator who still can’t figure out wordpress, my dslr camera, and just blogging in general, so I took a very long hiatus.  I figured it was more important to figure out how to put a crib together and a nursery and how to be a first time parent instead of making and posting pictures of cocktails that I so longingly wanted to drink but couldn’t.

This mandarin orange margarita reminds me of the citrus margarita I made 2 years ago. Oranges, lemons, and limes.  It’s perfect for this time of year- loads of vitamin C to help ward off sickness.

Also, two weeks ago it was Chinese New Year and mandarins are said to bring good luck in the new year.  So double bonus for this mandarin margarita.

Mandarin Margarita (serves 1)

2 mandarins, juiced

1/2 lime, juiced

2 oz tequila

1 oz triple sec

In a shaker with ice, combine all ingredients and shake well.  Pour into a salt rimmed glass.  Garnish with a mandarin slice and lime slice.  Enjoy!

What I like about this margarita is that the mandarins are sweet enough to not have to add a simple syrup or any kind of sweetener.  Which I hardly ever do to my margaritas anyway but sometimes they can be a bit too sour if you know what I mean.  But these mandarins are sweet and the triple sec also helps to make this margarita so good without any added sugar. Perfect for #nationalmargaritaday or every any day of the week.
