There’s this one coffee shop we took my son to one time to try their pepperoni rolls that he loves. My sister said she really liked their matcha latte because it tastes a little bit different than other ones she’s had before. So I ordered one for myself and took a sip and thought, “oh it has a little spice to it.” Then I looked at the menu and it said matcha latte with chai spice. Ta-da. So that’s the reason it tastes a little different and that’s what inspired me to make this drink.

Recipe for Matcha chai latte
(serves 1)
1/2 teaspoon matcha powder
1 chai tea bag
1 teaspoon honey
12 ounces hot water
1/2 cup milk of choice
Splash of vanilla creamer, optional
Boil 12 oz water. Steep chai tea bag in a large mug or glass in 6 ounces water for about 5 minutes. While the chai steeps, mix 1/2 tsp matcha in the other 6 ounces of water and whisk vigorously until smooth and frothy. Warm your milk of choice on the stove. Remove the tea bag and stir 1 tsp of honey into the chai. Then mix in the matcha. Pour warm milk over the matcha chai mixture and stir gently. For extra indulgence, add a splash of vanilla creamer.
