Slightly fruity, slightly sweet and sour, this millionaire cocktail is a tasty drink to sip on. But be careful! With 4 shots of alcohol, it is strong.
This cocktail has been adapted into many forms. Said to have originated in the 1930’s, I have seen many variations called the millionaire, to millionaire #1, and millionaire #4, I first saw this recipe in the book the Joy of Mixology by Gary Regan. It’s called the millionaire cocktail #4 in his book. I was intrigued by the ingredients which is how I sometimes pick a cocktail to make and blog about. This recipe consists of Myers’s rum. sloe gin, apricot brandy, and lime juice. Some of the other millionaire cocktails I’ve seen also have the addition of grenadine.
Another reason I decided to make this cocktail is the name. I have been really, really, really into the law of attraction, manifesting, and changing the way I think into more positivity and inner peace. If you follow along on my what up wednesdays post (in the menu- it doesn’t show up on my home page) then you know I’ve been reading books like The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, and my newest favorite 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace by Dr. Wayne W Dyer. So while I’m manifesting happiness, success, and millions of dollars, I figured I would make a millionaire’s cocktail.
I did this several years ago when I was trying to manifest winning the lottery. I made a drink called millionaire’s coffee. It didn’t work, but you can never stop believing.
Millionaire coffee
(serves 1)
2 ounces Myers’s rum
1 ounce sloe gin
1 ounce apricot brandy
1 oz fresh lime juice
lime wheel, optional
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with lime wheel or wedge (optional).
Enjoy!
