This mini charcuterie spread is perfect for any gathering, combining savory bites with a touch of sweetness and plenty of authentic German flavor. Serve with a cold German beer, such as a Hefeweizen, for the perfect Oktoberfest pairing.

This is not an ad, but everything pictured here (except the beer) is from Aldi. In case you didn’t know Aldi is a German company and every year they have an array of German products as part of they’re “special buys.” Especially this time of year for Oktoberfest. They also sell a low acid German coffee that I drink regularly that used to be a special buy but is now a part of their regular stock.

Ingredients for Oktoberfest mini charcuterie board

Bavarian soft pretzels– No Oktoberfest is complete without the iconic Bavarian soft pretzel. Chewy, but slightly crisp on the outside and salty, they are perfect for dipping in mustard or enjoying on their own.

Serving idea– tear into bite sized pieces for easier snacking or serve whole for a more rustic look.

Uncured Nuremberg bratwurst-smaller and thinner than the typical bratwurst, but packing just as much flavor. Uncured Nuremberg bratwurst offers a more natural flavor profile because they are free from added nitrates and nitrites.

Serving idea– slice bratwurst into bite sized pieces and provide toothpicks

German style pickles– their tangy crunch provides a refreshing contrast to the richer elements on the board. These German pickles have a slightly sweet yet tangy flavor.

Serving idea– serve whole or slice into rounds.

German cheeses– helps offer a variety of textures, I used a Butterkase which is a mild and creamy cheese. I also used a smoked Gouda, which is not strictly German, but it pairs wonderfully with the bratwurst, providing a smoky, nutty flavor.

Serving idea– arrange in wedges and include a small knife or cut into cubes.

Stone ground mustard– a must have for any charcuterie board, it’s coarse texture and bold flavor pairs beautifully with the bratwurst and pretzels.

Serving idea– place the mustard on the board or serve it in a small bowl.

Sugar roasted almonds-adds a touch of sweetness. The crunchy texture and sweet cinnamon coating offer a delightful contrast to the savory elements of the board.

Serving idea– warm them slightly before serving to release their sweet aroma and enhance their flavor.

Putting it all together

When arranging your charcuterie board, balance is key. Place the larger items around the edges of the board, leaving space for the smaller items in the center. Add some visual interest by using small bowls. Keep it rustic and casual.
