painkiller cocktail

painkiller cocktailOh so many reasons why I made us this cocktail…..

Reason #1 It’s pretty and delicious! What more could you ask for?
Reason #2 Mikey had surgery a few days ago and he could really use a painkiller.
Reason #3 I’ve been taking care of a sick man for a whole month and I could really use 5 painkillers(in cocktail form of course).
Reason #4 The actual reason is that I’m a reality tv show junkie and this cocktail is from the Bravo show Below Deck.

In case you’ve never seen the show before, it’s about a crew of people that work on a luxury yacht. This season they are located in the Virgin Islands. The famous cocktail of the area is The Painkiller. When the guests go ashore the bars serve this cocktail and the crew even makes their own for the guests on the ship. So I was curious and had to make my own.

Which could also lead to Reason #5 I wish I was on a luxury yacht in the Virgin Islands sipping on this fruity concoction.
Reason #6 There’s nutmeg in this drink! So it’s like a ’tis the season holiday fruity drink.
Like I mentioned before, oh so many reasons….

Painkiller cocktail
2 oz dark rum
2 oz pineapple juice
1 1/2 oz orange juice
1 1/2 oz coconut milk
dash of nutmeg
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine first 4 ingredients. Shake well. Pour into a glass and sprinkle with nutmeg.
For this drink, I used fresh squeezed orange juice because I just love the flavor better than store bought oj. I also used coconut milk but the original drink calls for cream of coconut which is just thicker.

Be careful! Too many of these will leave you feeling no pain!
