An amaretto sour with a hint of pear juice that balances nicely with the amaretto and adds a touch of sweetness to this delicious cocktail.
I’m usually a whisky sour girl. (I also really like this New York sour.)My bestest and I put a hurting on some whiskey sours on a cruise to the western caribbean over 20 years ago (20??!!). We put a hurting on a lot of drinks that week. We met a large group of people from Montana who had their own frozen drink called I think a “buffalo banger.” They told the bartenders on the ship how to make them and then everyone was drinking them all week long. And then there was the tequila congo line at a bar in Mexico that my bestest had to go through twice because I didn’t get a picture of her the first time. Oh the memories. Good times, good times.
So anywho, this amaretto sour. I really love amaretto. It’s probably my second favorite liquor with tequila being my absolute favorite. An amaretto sour is usually made with amaretto and sour mix, but I used fresh squeezed lemon juice for the sour and pear juice for the sweet. Plus it gives it just a subtle pear taste that pairs nicely with the amaretto. It’s a nice fall cocktail. I decided to make a cocktail with pears because it seems like every fall it’s always apples, apples, apples, pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin, and pears never get any attention. They’re like the middle child of fall fruit.
