This is an update to a post from 11/23/15.
Creamy, nutty, and boozy, this pecan pie martini is a delicious dessert in a glass. And I even made a homemade pecan bourbon!
I originally posted a pecan pie martini 8 years ago. I kept the original picture and recipe which I will share at the end of this post. This martini is a different recipe but equally just as tasty as my first one.
Not a fan of pecan pie? Well I highly recommend you try this pecan pie martini. And if you do like pecan pie well you are going to just love this martini. You can nibble on the nuts while you drink. It’s like a snack and a drink all in one. Like dessert too! It’s an all encompassing cocktail.
I have only recently the past few years been making pecan pies. I surprised myself with how much I actually like them. Gooey, sticky, sweet, and yet a crunchy texture of the pecans. It’s hard to overeat pecan pie too because of the sweetness. I had to make a pecan pie without the pecans for a friend of mine. Apparently when her kids were growing up they vacationed somewhere in Canada and every year they bought these cookie things that had a filling that tasted like pecan pie without the pecans. She asked me if I would make a pie with just the “goop” and no nuts. I thought she was f*cking nuts. But I tried it and she said it was great. Don’t worry though, this martini doesn’t taste like “goop” just because the nuts are on the outside.
Ingredients for pecan pie martini
Rumchata
creme de cacao
pecan bourbon*- if you don’t have pecan bourbon, or if you don’t want to make pecan bourbon, using regular bourbon will still work.
half and half- you can also use a milk of your choice
*for the pecan bourbon, all you need is toasted pecans and bourbon
The ingredients for my first version are vanilla vodka, maple syrup, and milk.
Both recipes have maple syrup and chopped pecans to rim the glass.
Recipe
To make the pecan bourbon-
First measure 1/4 cup pecans and place them in a small pan over medium low heat. Secondly, cook pecans for approximately 5 minutes, turning the pecans over about halfway through. Watch carefully so that they don’t burn! Let the pecans cool. Lastly, add the pecans to 3/4 cup bourbon and place in a sealed container. Let sit for about 3-5 days. Strain the pecans when ready to use. I actually chopped up the bourbon soaked pecans to use to rim the glass,
To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
