Fresh fruit in the winter is never a bad thing….
I originally was going to call this a fruit cup protein smoothie. It actually reminded me of a fruit salad but I thought fruit salad protein smoothie sounded really gross. But I didn’t think fruit cup protein smoothie sounded much better either. It’s like the fruit that’s left over from one of those big watermelons you carve out and throw a bunch of fruit into for summer picnics. Then there’s always someone that eats all of the good stuff out of it and your left with a few pieces of honeydew melon and cantaloupe. And maybe a few pieces of pineapple and a stray wrinkled grape or 2. Well it’s not summer here and I wanted some fresh fruit so my choices of the pre-cut variety at my local grocery store was this variety of fruit. Honeydew melon, cantaloupe, pineapple, and grapes. Well someone ate all the grapes….
So after spending $500 on precut fruit I don’t much care for, I forgot about it in my fridge. Why I bought it in the first place, I’m not even sure. But I didn’t want it to go to waste, so I threw it in a blender and made a smoothie. Good idea because it tastes great! Especially after I threw some granola on top and ate it with a spoon.
Pineapple melon protein smoothie
1/2 cup cantaloupe chunks
1/2 cup honeydew melon chunks
1/2 cup pineapple chunks
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder(or use 1 cup vanilla greek yogurt)
3/4 cup ice
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy. Granola on top optional but highly recommended.
When in doubt, just throw it in a blender and make a smoothie.
