Recipe
Rosemary and orange gin spritz
(serves 1)
2 ounces gin
2 ounces Cointreau
1 ounce lemon juice, fresh squeezed
1/2 orange, freshly squeezed (about 1 ounce)
1 ounce rosemary syrup* (1 Tablespoon sugar, 2 ounces hot water, 1 sprig rosemary)
Few dashes bitters
Club soda (to top off)
Rosemary sprig and orange wheel for garnish, optional
*for the rosemary syrup- In a heatproof bowl, combine 1 tablespoon sugar, 2 ounces of hot water, and 1 sprig of rosemary (slightly crushed to release the oils) Stir until the sugar dissolves. Let the mixture infuse for about 15 minutes, then strain out the rosemary and let cool before using.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add gin, Cointreau, lemon juice, orange juice, rosemary syrup, and bitters. Shake well until chilled. Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice. Top with club soda. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig and an orange slice, optional.
