Creamy hot chocolate mixed with irish cream liqueur, coconut rum, and creme de cocoa then topped off with whipped cream and sprinkled with cinnamon. This snowplow cocktail is perfect for a cold winter day.
I may have had a little too much fun making this drink. My son wasn’t home when I was taking the pics and I kind of felt bad because I think he would have had fun playing with the snow inside like I did.
Our weather has been all over the place this winter. There was basically only one day so far that my son was able to play in the snow. And he LOVES playing in the snow. I, on the other hand, hate it. He was at his grandparents house the day I took these pics and by the time he got home a lot of it already melted. Our weather has gone from 0 degrees to 50 degrees in one week multiple times this winter. So even if we don’t get any more snow or you never get any, I highly recommend you try this snowplow cocktail!
The recipe for this snowplow cocktail came from the Playboy Bartender’s Guide by Thomas Mario. I have made so many drinks out of this book and have some more lined up to make. It’s from the 1970’s and I just find so many interesting cocktails in the book that was given to me by a dear friend of mine. He was a patron at the bar where I bartended and we used to joke about him being Hugh Hefner. One year for Halloween, he even dressed like him. He is nothing at all like Hugh Hefner. It was just an inside joke. Which is why him buying this bartender’s guide was kind of a perfect joke.
Snowplow cocktail
(serves 1)
8 ounces hot chocolate (I used Godiva hot chocolate mix combined with original almond milk)
1 ounce irish cream liquor
1 ounce coconut rum
1/2 ounce creme de cocoa
whipped cream
cinnamon for sprinkling
Heat and mix hot chocolate according to package directions. Pour into a large mug and add liquors. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon.
