Perfect for a hot summer day when you need a pick me up and a cool refreshing cocktail all in one.
My boyfriend is on a frozen mocha kick from Dunkin Donuts. The problem is #1 it’s an expensive habit. #2 The drink is never the same depending on who orders it and maybe even who makes it. And #3 it’s a calorie/sugar rush that he wants to do without but has a hard time saying no to. But his frozen mocha habit is what helped inspire this drink.
In all the years of my on a again off again blogging, I have about 5 different notebooks with all kinds of notes and recipes and cut outs from magazines. I think every time I would “get back into it” (blogging) I would start a new notebook and try to organize everything. Well let’s just say it never quite happened. But in one of my notebooks I have a post-it with a recipe for an almond mocha coffee. So between my post-it and Mike’s frozen mocha obsession, out popped this tasty spiked frozen almond mocha.
Spiked frozen almond mocha
(serves 2)
8 oz coffee, cooled (or you can use cold brew)
1 oz amaretto
1 oz creme de cocoa
1 cup of ice
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high until mixed. Pour into 2 glasses and sprinkle with shaved chocolate which is totally optional but looks really good.
