Stiletto cocktail

This stiletto cocktail combines 3 ingredients I never really thought to mix together before. Bourbon, amaretto, and lime juice. It’s an interesting combination that actually works well together.

I found this recipe in the book the Joy of Mixology by Gary Regan. I altered the ratio of the alcohol a bit and garnished it with a maraschino cherry, mostly just for the photos. The original recipe called for 1/2 ounce amaretto and I felt that it wasn’t enough. The bourbon overpowered it too much. So I just added more amaretto. Also, in the book the author comments that he surprised by the addition of lime juice because lemon juice is usually added to bourbon/whisky drinks and not lime. It is a very interesting mix of flavors.

I also wanted to make this drink because of the name. I love stiletto’s. Annnnd it’s my birthday month and my fiance surprised me this year with the awesome stiletto’s in this picture. He gave them to me early so I could wear them out for my birthday dinner.

Also, pardon the glass in these pics. I forgot to turn it the correct way so that you didn’t see the bailey’s written on it because there isn’t any bailey’s in this drink. They were just some cool glasses that I got for free and like to use.
