This crisp, refreshing strawberry kentucky mule combines strawberries, bourbon, ginger beer, lime juice and lemon juice to make a delightful cocktail.
It’s peak strawberry season here in Pennsylvania. If you follow along on my what up wednesdays posts you’ll see that we went strawberry picking. We came home with 2 big boxes of strawberries. It was a lot of fun but the next question is always- now what do we do with all of these strawberries? We make cocktails! Plus my son loves strawberries and eats them every single day. Which is awesome because he is a very picky eater.
Years ago I made this strawberry rhubarb moscow mule. So this time I decided to try a kentucky mule with just the strawberries, If you totally hate bourbon (I’m not sure if we can be friends) than you can make this into a moscow mule and just substitute vodka for bourbon.
A traditional mule contains lime juice, which I used, but i also added some lemon juice to compliment the strawberries.
I muddle the strawberries in the bottom of the copper mug (or glass or whatever you’re using). Then I add the bourbon and juices and stir. You could do these steps in a shaker and then strain the contents into your mug or glass but I like to keep the muddled strawberries in my cup.
Strawberry kentucky mule
(serves 1)
5 strawberries (mine were on the small side so use less if you have large strawberries)
juice of 1/2 a lime
1/4 ounce lemon juice( I prefer fresh squeezed)
2 ounces bourbon
ice
ginger beer (amount depends on the size of your glass/mug- usually about 4 ounces)
In a mug/cup/glass muddle the strawberries. Add the lemon juice, lime juice, and bourbon. Stir the ingredients and add ice. Top with ginger beer and gently stir.
Enjoy!!
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability
and appearance. I must say that you’ve done a very good job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Chrome.
Superb Blog!
