Creamy, boozy, and, not too sweet, this strawberry shortcake cocktail is a delicious treat with such a pretty pink color.
Whenever I hear the words strawberry shortcake, I always think of the doll. I used to play with strawberry shortcake dolls when I was little. Someone actually bought me a strawberry shortcake doll a few years ago. The scent of the doll just takes me back to my childhood. Also, oddly enough, every time I hear the word strawberry shortcake I can’t stop thinking of the cheer. You know the one that the little cheerleaders belt out… “strawberry shortcake banana split. Your team fights like a pile of……shift it to the left ,shift it to the right, stand up sit down fight fight fight!!! I hope it won’t leave your head now either for the rest of the day. I can’t stop singing it. And no, I’m not drunk. Conversely I know that most people would think about the dessert instead of a doll or a cheer. But this is how my brain works sometimes. Scary, I know
Ingredients for strawberry shortcake cocktail
Cake vodka
Tequila cream- It’s a “special order” in my neck of the woods so an Irish cream (such as Bailey’s) would work just as well. Tequila cream is made with tequila instead of Irish whiskey but it has a “similar” taste.
Milk- any kind will do, I used an almond milk original.
Strawberries- about 3 medium fresh strawberries. Thawed frozen strawberries would work also. Or you could use frozen and throw everything in a blender.
Recipe
First, muddle the strawberries in a shaker. This is what helps give it that pretty pink color. And no, this does not taste like strawberry quick. Secondly, add the rest of the ingredients with Ice and shake well. Thirdly, strain it into a rocks glass with ice. Some of the strawberries might slip through but I love how it makes the drink look. Also, aren’t those black and white polka dot straws and napkins adorable?
