watermelon margarita

Oh hi!
I’m back. You’ll never guess what I made us to drink to celebrate the fact that I am finally posting a cocktail after 2 whole months…Can you guess????
A MARGARITA!!!
I’m so predictable. Especially since the last drink I posted was a margarita. A rhubarb margarita to be exact. But this time I made a watermelon margarita!! And it’s Monday and Margarita Monday is actually a thing so I’m just going with the flow.

I even joked last time that I should try 365 days of margaritas. Add one more to the list.

I kept seeing watermelon margaritas all over the internet and pinterest. And we kept buying and devouring watermelon from a local farm so I figured why not a watermelon margarita of course. It’s part of my farm to bar movement. Buy local, drink local. Haha!

Isn’t it just the prettiest little thing ever? I dressed it up with a cute mini wedge of watermelon and a lime slice AND some chocolate mint from my garden. Farm to bar again. Hehe. Ok I’ll stop.

This margarita just makes me want to have a picnic. Would you come to it? You supply the food, I’ll supply the drinks? Ok, I know, not fair. How about you have a picnic and invite me! I’ll bring the margaritas!

Watermelon margarita
1 1/2 cups watermelon puree
2 oz tequila
1/2 oz grand marnier, Cointreau, or triple sec
1 oz lime juice
In a shaker with ice, place all ingredients and shake really well. Pour into a salt rimmed glass. Garnish with a lime slice and mini watermelon wedge if you have the patience to cut one. Also chocolate mint optional. Regular mint works too and the mint is just used to make the drink look fancy and is not essential to the taste.
watermelon puree
Take 1/4 of a whole watermelon and cut it into chunks. Puree in a blender. Yields about 2 1/4 cup.

I’ll be patiently waiting for my invite in the mail….
