just a few things I’ve been up to lately…..
Open house at his school. He’s eating a Kona Ice.
His teacher had these on the kids desks. So cute!
I made a batch of salsa and only got 3 jars.
We got some ice cream. ( He lost his front tooth the day before!)
CSA pickup
Sadly, no more peaches..
Clyde scared me again
And continuing on with ginger cat day… I had to drop off my sister’s CSA so we got to say Hi to Kitty Brooklyn
I made my shrimp and grits recipe with CSA veggies-swiss chard and the cherry tomatoes from last week. This recipe here is kind of like the original recipe I got mine from. In my post I used a packet of grits you microwave, spinach instead of chard, and a can of diced tomatoes. The one I used last week was grits that you cook on the stove, and the tomatoes I roasted in the oven. It was delish.
And then it was time to celebrate Jax’s 7th birthday. It started Friday while he was at school. I decorated and made him a cookie cake and all his “friends” yelled “SURPRISE” when he came home from school. He loved it!
We had his birthday party on Sunday. It was a circus theme. I labored over these cookies and while I’m proud of my effort, clearly this is not my calling.
Pinterest gave me all of my ideas
I made the cupcakes and icing from scratch.
And we had games to play where you win tickets and then turn the tickets in for prizes
Very homemade and inexpensive
And fun!
The prize board
Pin the nose on the clown
And a tattoo parlor complete with circus tattoos!
He was hard at work tattooing his grandparents
Then he recruited his cousin Lena to take over
There was also a bounce house!
Wore out at the end of the day
It was such a fun day!
Exhausted after a week of party planning, I had a bunch of veggies to use up so I made another batch of salsa. This time I got 5.
And that’s it! Another absolute fantastic week in the books!
Hope you have a great week ahead!
