just a few things I’ve been up to lately…..
-0——————————— Elvira Kittypants just typed that. She was walking across my desk wanting attention. She loves to sit on my chair with me in my office while I’m on my computer. She takes up most of the chair and leaves me perched on the edge of it. Or she just takes up the whole chair and makes me go find somewhere else to sit.
Today is Ash Wednesday and I’m not going to give you a lesson on religion but I am going to tell you how it relates to these pancakes. It’s customary to give up something for Lent which lasts from Ash Wednesday til Easter Sunday. When I was a kid every year I would give up pancakes. I never really liked pancakes. I’m a French toast kind of girl. But I thought pancakes sounded like a good thing to “give up.” Fast forward many years and last week my boyfriend bought pancake mix and we devoured them like 2 or 3 times last week. It made me laugh thinking that today is Ash Wednesday and I should be giving up pancakes but I can’t stop eating them now!
TV talk- 4 days til The Walking Dead!!!! All I keep hearing about is how it’s going to be all kinds of bad. I almost don’t want it to start. But then I remember it’s the zombie apocalypse and nothing good ever happens anyway. We started to binge watch Homeland and YESSSS!!! We have ourselves a winner. There are 5 seasons already too. It’s almost like the Walking Dead. You’re not really sure why you like it but you just can’t stop watching it. The story line of Homeland is slightly disturbing (terrorists) and my boyfriend hates the main character (Claire Danes) which I have to admit her character isn’t always likeable (yet?). But you just keep on watching and can’t wait for the next episode.
This is a picture of me and Kitty from this past summer. She could’ve been Elvira’s older sister. Actually she was about 20 years old so she could’ve been Elvira’s grandmother. She passed away this past Saturday. I was her babysitter occasionally and we would have great times together. I would spoil her and over feed her and she was the sweetest little lap cat. The funniest stories are when she would puke in my besest friends shoes. They loved to antagonize each other. Kitty even bought Elvira and Nero xmas presents. She will be greatly missed.
So our living and dining room currently look like this:
That’s Nero on a blanket in front of the heating vent in the living room. There are 2 more just like it in the dining room and another one on the couch. Folded up cat blankets. Everywhere. For 2 cats. And that’s not counting a blanket on our bed and one in my office. They are insanely spoiled! And don’t even get me started on the toys and treats. Oh, and like 5 different kinds and brands of food. Spoiled rotten!
Miss my old girl.
