Loaded with antioxidants, this delicious sweet wild blueberry collagen smoothie is a healthy and filling treat.
Wild blueberries are said to have 33% more brain healthy anthocyanins than regular blueberries. Anthocyanin is a flavonoid with potent antioxidant capacity. Sometimes smaller that regular blueberries, wild blueberries are still as sweet and flavorful. Subsequently, you can use regular blueberries in this recipe if you can’t find wild blueberries. Generally, I find frozen wild blueberries at Walmart. Occasionally, I have found wild blueberries at Aldi as a special buy.
Ingredients for wild blueberry collagen smoothie
1 cup wild blueberries
1/2 frozen banana- I like to use frozen banana in my smoothies and shakes. I like the added sweetness and it gives the smoothie a nice consistency. Alternately, you could use frozen avocado chunks.
1 Tablespoon peanut butter- you can substitute any nut butter
3/4- 1 cup coconut milk- I use Aldi coconut milk that comes in a half gallon container. Consequently, you may need to add a bit of water to your smoothie because the coconut milk is pretty thick. Or you can use any milk of your choice.
1 scoop of collagen powder- Lately the collagen powder comes without a scoop and you have to measure it in tablespoons. Alternately, you could substitute a protein powder if you don’t want to use collagen powder. Also, if you want to skip the “powder” altogether, you could use a plain regular or greek yogurt.
