This tart apricot jam margarita is super simple to make and oh so tasty.
Jam cocktails were all the rage years ago. Then they had a moment again on TikTok a couple years back. They actually never go out of style but I tend to forget about them for awhile. Until I had an aha! moment the other day. I was trying to think of a margarita to make for Cinco de Mayo and I was making this recipe for sweet and spicy pork chops from Martha Stewart that uses apricot jam. And there was my aha moment. I also use apricot jam in this sticky apricot chicken with broccoli. Both recipes are on repeat in my kitchen. In the interest of pinching pennies, I gave you 2 food recipes and now 1 drink recipe so go ahead and buy that jar of apricot jam and you can thank me later.
Ingredients for apricot jam margarita
Tequila
cointreau- or triple sec or even grand marnier
lime juice
apricot jam
What I love about using jam in a recipe is that you get your fruit and sugar all in one so there’s no need for a simple syrup or any kind of sweetener.
Recipe
Apricot jam margarita
(serves 1)
2 ounces gold tequila
1 ounce Cointreau
Juice of a lime- or about 1 ounce
1 1/2 tablespoons apricot jam
lime slice for garnish
coarse salt for rim of glass
Use the lime slice to rub on the rim of the glass, Dip the rim in salt. Add ice and set aside.
Place the tequila, cointreau, lime juice, and apricot jam in a shaker with ice. Shake well. And then shake it some more. Like seriously shake the shit out of it especially if your jam is chunky. Then strain into your salt rimmed ice filled margarita glass. Garnish with a lime slice.
To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
