blueberry cheesecake protein smoothie

For those of us still craving dessert but trying to stay on track with our “diets”….

And for those of you that don’t like protein powder, I made this without any! But it is still loaded with protein. Win win!
Actually it’s the reason I called this a protein smoothie instead of a protein shake. If there’s a difference. In my mind there is. But of course in my mind, sticking to your diet means drinking vodka and soda water and light beer instead of margaritas and rum and cola.

This protein smoothie is not sickeningly sweet either. It’s actually not very sweet at all. But it does remind you of eating blueberry cheesecake minus the crust. You could actually sprinkle some crushed up graham crackers on top to get the full effect.
Getting back into trying to eat healthy and my workouts post holiday has been kind of hard for me the past week. It’s been about 2 degrees around here and all I want to do is snuggle under the covers and drink bailey’s and coffee and snack on food while I get caught up on all my bad reality tv shows. Have I mentioned before how much I hate winter?

Blueberry cheesecake protein smoothie
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
3/4 cup blueberries
1/2 cup milk ( I used original almond milk)
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 1/2 TBL maple syrup
Place all ingredients in a blender with 1 cup of ice. Blend until smooth.

Loaded with about 25 grams of protein from the cottage cheese and yogurt, this is an awesome smoothie especially if you don’t like using protein powder.
