Cherry vanilla amaretto sour

I take a tasty amaretto sour and elevate it with one of my favorite flavor combinations of cherry and vanilla to create this super delicious cherry vanilla amaretto sour.

I’m a big fan of amaretto. I just love the sweet nutty almond flavor and it pairs so well with so many things. The simplest being amaretto with fresh squeezed orange juice.

An amaretto sour is a very popular classic cocktail combining amaretto with lemon juice for a sweet and sour taste. So I took this cocktail a step further and added cherry and vanilla giving it a sweet, sour, tart, and nutty flavor. I love cherry and vanilla together. Subsequently, I don’t really drink soda but when I used to, a cherry vanilla pepsi was my favorite. I also made this cherry vanilla dirty soda a couple years ago that’s just so good. Another combination that pairs so well together is cherry and almonds which is why this drink is just so fantastic.

Ingredients for cherry vanilla amaretto sour

Tart cherry juice

Vanilla vodka

Sour mix- I like to make my own but you can use store bought or a simple syrup and add lemon juice.

Recipe

1 ounce vanilla vodka

2 ounces amaretto

1 ounce tart cherry juice

1 ounce sour mix

maraschino cherries for garnish, optional

In a cocktail shaker with ice, add vanilla vodka, amaretto, cherry juice, and sour mix. Shake well. Pour into a rocks glass. Add more ice if necessary. Garnish with maraschino cherries, optional.

Homemade sour mix-

Firstly, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup water and a 1/2 cup of sugar. Secondly, stir to combine and bring mixture to a simmer. Thirdly, let simmer for 1-2 minutes and remove from heat. Fourthly, add 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup lime juice. Let cool. Lastly, store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
