This indulgent “dirty soda” is made up of only 2 ingredients- cherry coke zero and vanilla coffee creamer and garnished with a maraschino cherry – it is as delicious as all of the tik tok videos say it is.
I couldn’t help myself from trying one of these dirty sodas. They were such a sensation on tik tok. It was too intriguing not to. And while I wanted to try an original dirty soda- diet coke, lime juice, coconut syrup, and heavy cream, I wanted to create my own version. And it is delicious, if I do say so myself.
The origin of the dirty soda is said to have come from Utah where Mormons are prohibited from drinking hot caffeinated beverages (and alcohol). So there was a soda shop that came up with the idea of a mocktail with a soda base with optional creams, flavored syrups and fruit add-ins.
Years ago I drank a lot of cherry coke zero. I also used to love vanilla coke. And I really used to like cherry vanilla pepsi. So that was the inspiration for my cherry vanilla dirty soda. I used vanilla coffee creamer because that is a popular short cut to making a dirty soda instead of a flavored syrup and heavy cream.
The variations on this drink are practically endless.
Cherry vanilla dirty soda
(serves 1-2)
1 16 oz bottle of cherry coke zero
vanilla coffee creamer
2 maraschino cherries for garnish
nugget ice, or any kind of ice
Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour half of the soda in the glass then top with creamer. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
