This chocolate mixed berry protein shake is my all time favorite combination for a great post workout drink. Combining 4 different kinds of berries with chocolate protein powder, milk, banana, and peanut butter for a delicious shake.
This protein shake is Mikey’s bedtime snack. Unfortunately, his days are so busy that he doesn’t work out until late at night so when he’s finished he drinks this shake and goes to bed. Sometimes even falling asleep while drinking it. He also likes to drink this shake as a bedtime snack even if he doesn’t work out. I always make a partial shake for him and keep it in the refrigerator. Then when he’s ready, he adds the frozen ingredients and blends it up. Now sometimes if Mikey’s had a bad day then he wants to snack on bad food. He’ll want to go to the local convenience store and buy 2 bags of combos. So sometimes I have to talk him off of the ledge and tell him that there’s a shake in the refrigerator and he should just have that instead. Works almost every time.
Mikey is actually the one who came up with this shake years ago. When I met him he told me about this shake and how he would drink one most nights. The only difference is that he used to add granola to the top off the shake and eat it with a spoon (kind of like a smoothie bowl) and then drink the rest. He made one for me and I was hooked. I actually posted about it here in the Frozen fitness Fridays post. The granola is really good on it but these days we opt out of eating it.
Ingredients for chocolate mixed berry protein shake
Mixed berries- frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and black berries. I find a nice big bag reasonably priced at Aldi.
Milk-whatever kind of your choice. I use original almond milk
Chocolate protein powder- of your choice. I use a whey protein for Mikey and a plant protein for me.
Banana- frozen for that creamy texture
Peanut butter- or nut butter of your choice
Recipe
Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.
