This is the cutest idea ever!!! I first saw this on Pinterest and I knew I just had to make my own. There’s so many different cocktails you can use to fill your ornament. I chose a cosmopolitan because #1 it’s red and #2 The Sex and the City reboot is now streaming and a cosmopolitan was always their signature cocktail. And I have always loved Sex and the City.
There’s many different ways to serve these ornament cocktails. I have 2 different ways here- in the martini glass or just add a straw and drink it from the ornament. I used a muffin pan to hold the ornaments until you’re ready to serve them.
I’ve also seen where the ornaments are hung on a christmas tree and you pick your cocktail off of the tree. Just make sure to use an ornament with a screw top lid. Mine just have a push in top.
Clear ornaments are pretty easy to find these days. There’s so many neat ideas to use them for. Two years ago I used clear ornaments filled with hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows as gifts. Last year I made picture ornaments by putting a photo inside of a clear ornament. This year it’s cocktails in clear ornaments!
I’ve seen these called ornamentini’s but it would just depend on what you fill them with. Technically a cosmopolitan is a martini so I could’ve called them an ornamentini but I just went with a more descriptive name- Christmas ornament cosmopolitan cocktail.
Christmas ornament cosmopolitan cocktail
(serves 1)
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 oz triple sec
2 oz cranberry juice
splash of lime juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into the clear ornament using a funnel to get it into the ornament. If not serving right away, keep refrigerated. Recipe can easily be multiplied and using a muffin tin to hold the ornaments works really well.
