A very mild tart and tangy taste, this citrus pucker cocktail combines citrus vodka, peach schnapps, lemon juice, simple syrup, and water for a very refreshing drink.
I got this recipe from Martha Stewart about 20 years ago. It’s been sitting in my collection of recipes that I print after seeing it on TV, or I tear it out of a magazine, or I cut it out from the newspaper. I have so many of these recipes and periodically go through them when I’m searching for different things to make or when I remember having a specific recipe. Which is how this recipe came about. I was looking for a certain recipe that I’m going to share with you soon. It was from at least 25 years ago that I cut out of the newspaper. I found it and also found this one.
This citrus pucker recipe says that this drink is one of the most requested at Jimmy’s Bronx Cafe in New York City. The restaurant is now closed.
I was intrigued by this citrus pucker cocktail because of the ingredients. Particularly the 1/2 cup of water. I’ve never really seen water as an ingredient in a cocktail. I think it’s a good idea though. It helps keep you hydrated while you’re drinking alcohol, right? Plus I also liked the addition of the blueberries in the drink.
Citrus Pucker Cocktail
(Serves 1 in a large glass)
2 ounces citrus vodka
1 ounce peach schnapps
1/2 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
half a cup of water
10 blueberries
1 slice lemon
ice
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine citrus vodka, peach schnapps, lemon juice, simple syrup, and water. Shake well. Fill a large glass with ice and add blueberries. Strain vodka mixture into the glass. Garnish with a lemon.
Simple syrup- combine 1/2 cup water with a half cup of sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Next, stir until sugar is dissolved and bring to simmer. Remove from heat and cool. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
Enjoy!
