frozen friday 2

So I’m really on a roll with this whole “it’s still summer” kick.  The weather around these here parts is hot and humid and rainy in spots, just like a real summer.  So even though the little kiddos are going back to school and all, I’m enjoying the fact that it’s just gorgeous around here and I’m still swimming in pools and sitting in the sun, working on my tan, and loving every minute of this last little bit of SUMMER!  And what could be better than sitting in the sun, soaking up some rays, and enjoying a good book and a good frozen beverage….

This frozen beverage is reminiscent of a drink me and my best friend used to make growing up. Minus the rum.  We were kids for goodness sake.  We only liked to sneak our parents beer and Jack Daniels?? Like what were we thinking? Jack Daniels?  Sooo ahead of you Kesha.  Anywhoo,  this frozen drink definitely had strawberries, oj, and maraschino cherry juice in it.  And I cannot remember what else.  So I added some rum and half a frozen banana and called it a great drink to have while chillin in the sunshine.

Super simple easy to throw it all in a blender…

This drink doesn’t have a name.  We used to call it that milkshake your dad would make or something like that.  So maybe it should be called “your dad’s milkshake all grown up?”

5 strawberries

2 1/2 oz rum

1/2 banana (I used a frozen one)

1/3 cup orange juice

1/2 oz maraschino cherry juice ( or use grenadine)

combine all ingredients in a blender with some ice.
