Refreshing, tangy, and not too sweet, this frozen mango mandarin margarita mocktail is a delicious, citrusy treat.
Years ago (2015), I made this frozen mango margarita using fresh mango. Then a few years later (2019), I made this mandarin orange margarita using fresh mandarin oranges. Then a few years after that (2022) I made this sparkling orange mango margarita using Pur aqua sparkling orange mango frost. So to say I like oranges and mangos is kind of obvious. Subsequently, I wanted to make a non alcoholic flavored margarita. I have a regular non alcoholic margarita here. But I wanted a flavored, frozen one and it just so happened I had some frozen mango in my freezer. I wanted to add a bit of extra flavor to it and since a margarita usually has triple sec or some kind of orange liqueur to it, I thought how about fresh mandarin juice. Particularly fresh squeezed because it tends to be less sour in my opinion than store bought orange juice. So here we are. Another variation of a mango/mandarin margarita but in non alcoholic form or mockarita if you will.
Ingredients for frozen mango mandarin margarita mocktail
Frozen mango chunks- you can use fresh and just add ice
Lime juice- fresh squeezed
Mandarin orange juice- fresh squeezed
Sour mix-I used homemade (sugar, water, lemon juice, lime juice)
Margarita salt- for the rim, optional
Lime slice/wedge, optional
Recipe
Use a lime wedge around the rim of the glass. Dip glass into margarita salt. Set aside. In a blender, place mango chunks, lime juice, mandarin juice and sour mix. Blend until smooth. Pour into salt rimmed glass. Garnish with lime wedge/slice.
For the homemade sour mix-
Firstly, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup water and a 1/2 cup of sugar. Secondly, stir to combine and bring mixture to a simmer. Thirdly, let simmer for 1-2 minutes and remove from heat. Fourthly, add 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup lime juice. Let cool. Lastly, store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
To health, wealth, and happiness! Cheers!
